Dr Louise Newson concludes landmark theatre tour

Balance app founder Dr Louise Newson has concluded her hugely successful theatre tour, playing to audiences of almost 10,000 people during the three-month run.

The Breaking the Cycle: The Power of Hormones tour saw Dr Louise travel more than 9,000 miles and visit almost 40 towns and cities across England and Wales.

The show debunked misinformation around women’s hormones and their health, challenging audiences to rethink everything they’d ever been told about hormones.

As well as telling the hidden story of hormone treatments, Dr Louise explored the decades of injustice where women have not been listened to, believed, nor prescribed the correct hormone treatments by healthcare professionals.

Humbling and inspiring

Reflecting on the success of the tour, Dr Louise said: ‘When I first set off on this theatre tour, I hoped it would be an opportunity to share information, challenge myths and help more people understand hormones and health.

‘What I didn't expect was quite how much I would gain from it too.

‘Meeting so many of you, hearing your stories, listening to your struggles, your successes and your determination to feel better has been both humbling and inspiring.

‘There have been tears, laughter, moments of frustration at how women have been let down and dismissed, but also so much hope. One thing I hear again and again is how life-changing it is when women finally feel listened to, understood and informed.

‘Whether through my books, podcasts, social media, my Balance app, Newson Clinic or live events, knowing that these resources have helped you means more to me than I can say.’

Work doesn’t stop here

Dr Louise added while this may be the end of the tour, it certainly isn't the end of her work.

‘While we've come a long way, there are still too many women struggling, being told their symptoms are normal and being denied hormone treatments that would both improve their symptoms and their future health,’ she said.

'Thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, came along, shared their story, brought a friend or supported this mission in any way. You have given me even more energy and determination to keep fighting for better healthcare, better education and better outcomes for women.’
